Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of planting media on the growth of agarwood seedlings and to determine the composition of the right planting media for the growth of agarwood seedlings.  This research was conducted in the Almuslim University Faculty of Agriculture gauze house with an altitude of 400 meters above sea level with an average maximum temperature of 30C and minimum temperature of 21C.This research was conducted from May to July 2023. The seedlings used came from Lampung with seeds that had been sown for 8 weeks.  Selected seedlings that are relatively uniform in height and number of leaves, straight stem, look healthy and fresh. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomised Design (CRD), with 5 treatments repeated 3 times.  The number of plants in each treatment was 12 plants, so the total number was 180 plants.  The parameters observed were percent survival, plant height and number of leaves.  The data obtained were analysed by analysis of variance to determine whether the seedlings significantly affected the planting media at a critical level of 5%.  The results showed that different planting media treatments had a significant effect on the growth of height, number of leaves and percent live of agarwood seedlings.  The best planting media for plant height growth was M3 (cocopeat and compost).  Similarly, with the growth of the number of leaves, the best planting media was obtained in M3 (cocopeat and compost).  In the percent of life, the best planting media was obtained in all four treatments, namely, M1 (soil and compost), M2 (soil and cocopeat), M3 (cocopeat and compost) and M4 (soil, cocopeat and compost)
